Fix DSC Signer Service 4.1.8 Problems in One Click

Fix DSC Signer Service 4.1.8 Problems in One Click

· @Team1RailGyan

If DSC signing in eOffice suddenly stops working, the cause is almost always one of seven small problems on the PC. I built a free one-click tool that finds which one it is and fixes it, with your permission.

Anyone who signs files in eOffice knows the routine: the DSC token is plugged in, the PIN is correct, and still the signing button does nothing or shows "Signer service not running". Most of the time the DigitalSignerService 4.1.8 on your own computer is the problem, not the eOffice website.

DSC Signer Check & Fix is a single Windows file (DSC_Signer_OneClick_Fix.bat). Double-click it and within a minute it tells you whether signing will work, and if not, exactly why.

Why DSC signing fails: the usual causes

The tool checks each of these and shows TEST OK or FAILED with the version or state it found.

What is checked

Typical problem

1

Latest Java Runtime installed

Old Java left after an update, or only 32-bit Java present

2

Port 55101 is free

Another program, or a Windows-reserved port range, blocks the signer

3

DigitalSignerService 4.1.8 installed properly

Old 4.1.x version still installed, or program files missing

4

Service running, isLive shows success

https://eoffsigner.eoffice.gov.in:55101/check/isLive does not show DSC Signer Service version : 4.1.8

5

Clean environment variables

Stale Java PATH entries, wrong JAVA_HOME, or JAVA_TOOL_OPTIONS breaking Java

6

hosts file entry

127.0.0.1 eoffsigner.eoffice.gov.in missing, commented with #, or stuck to the end of another line

7

Java works

java -version fails or an older Java runs first

8-10

Chrome, Edge and Firefox can open isLive

Proxy without an exception, browser blocking eOffice pages from reaching the local signer

How to use it

You need two files: the tool and the DigitalSignerService 4.1.8 installer zip. Keep both in your Downloads folder, which is where the tool looks first.

  1. Double-click DSC_Signer_OneClick_Fix.bat. No admin rights are needed to test. If Windows SmartScreen warns, click More info > Run anyway.
  2. Step 1: choose the installer. The tool finds the 4.1.8 zip in Downloads by itself and shows VALID in green. Otherwise click Browse ZIP / MSI or Browse folder. It rejects a damaged file or a wrong version. If DSS is already installed you can click Skip installer.
  3. Step 2: perform the check. Click Yes. The tool first runs a quick overall test: isLive plus Chrome, Edge and Firefox. If that passes, it shows ALL OK - nothing needs to be done and stops there.
  4. If something fails, the full 10-point check runs automatically. Failed rows turn red and are ticked. Click any row to see what was found and what the fix will do.
  5. Click Fix selected. The tool lists every change and asks permission. Only then does Windows ask for administrator rights, and the tool continues as administrator.
  6. Confirm in your browser. Click the yellow Open DSC isLive Service Test-Check in browsers button. The page must show success. DSC Signer Service version : 4.1.8.

Prefer text instead of a window? Double-click DSC_Signer_Console.bat for the same steps with Y/N questions.
